DUMPING GRETCHEN (Dir. Amit Gupta)

Dumping Gretchen is a twist on the romantic comedy genre: a tale about how far a man will go to break up with a woman he no longer wants to date. Matt, a wealthy twenty something looks for bizarre ways to break off a relationship with Gretchen, a passionate Ape lover, whom he has been dating. When several plans fail, Matt turns to his work colleague Dwayne, a computer geek, who hasn't had a date in years. Matt begins training Dwayne to make him the man of Gretchen's dreams.

Filmmaker Bio

Amit Gupta is a director of commercials and narrative short films. He has directed short films in New York, San Francisco and overseas in India in a variety of genres. Amit is also a classically trained professional actor whose credits include PMRC, a VH-1 feature film starring Jason Priestly, Earth, a film by Deepa Mehta that was distributed internationally, and several short films including Sir Brian O'Hare that have had festival coverage in the Jump Cut film festival and the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas.

THE LIGHT (Dir. Mark Decena)

Adam Reiter's world is in stasis; existentially empty and devoid of purpose. That is, until his daily routine is interrupted by a seemingly harmless traffic light. What starts as a mild frustration of modern day life, escalates into a seemingly all-out battle. In a moment of rage, a neutral by-standing Moving Man, makes an observation, and sheds light on whether the conspiracy is actually against Adam, or for him. Filmmaker Bio

Mark Decena's first feature film, Dopamine, premiered at the 2003 Sundance Film Festival's Dramatic Competition. Having won the first Alfred P. Sloan Prize, Dopamine went on to close the San Francisco International Film Festival, and was picked up for theatrical distribution by the Sundance Channel's Film Series. Mark was then selected for Fox Television's New Voices Program to develop a workplace drama pilot, and currently have a deal with 20th Century Fox, to write the script, and is attached as a Co-Executive Producer. He was recently picked up for representation by Creative Artists Agency. Decena's two previous short films, One of Those Days and A Fly by Shooting were accepted at Sundance, Toronto, Mill Valley, Gen Art, as well as other domestic and international film festivals.

CALL WAITING

A familiar vignette which has its character (played by Begien) in the midst of anticipation for "the phone call." Wishful thinking is devised in the folding of paper cranes to pass the time and while Begien's own wait is lost, she surprisingly becomes the barer of that same wish. Filmmaker Bio

San Francisco's dilettante, Cathy Begien, was born in Singapore but raised in Saudi Arabia and Southern California. She attended UC Santa Cruz for writing and then moved to San Francisco. Begien has participated in several film festivals and group shows (including The Getty Center and Angela Hanley Gallery in Los Angeles), and is represented by Winkleman Plus Ultra Gallery in New York. When not busy hiding in her closet (her production studio is known as Closet Arts), she can be found face down on a blanket in Dolores Park.

After one final fight, Serene leaves Lukas for good. As Lukas retreats into his empty bedroom for a night of lucid dreams, he finds himself in pursuit of Serene, tumbling through the memories and places, both real and imagined, that he may lose forever if she slips out of reach. Filmmaker Bio

Christopher j Ewing was born in Lake Forest, Illinois in September 1982. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 2004 and began a volunteer film production company, creating industrials and a 43-minute ensemble dramedy, Cruelty Free. He now lives in San Francisco, with a girl and a designer dog and is pursuing a graduate degree at Academy of Art University in directing and producing for film. Releasing Serene was shot as a silent, B&W 16mm film with a five-person cast and crew. Christopher scored the film as his one-man-band, Slap Bracelets Kill!
